Bismarck, Pierre, and Saint Paul, as well as Des Moines and Lincoln.
Other populous cities on this map include Minneapolis, Sioux Falls, and Omaha. The Northern Plains consists largely of prairies whose elevation rises towards the west, becoming hilly in western South Dakota and Nebraska.
